Title
“Metal enhancement of the protocluster galaxies at z=2.2”
Abstract
Protoclusters are the ideal laboratories to study how the strong environmental dependence in galaxy properties seen today was initially set up. We conducted a near-infrared spectroscopy of star-forming galaxies (H-alpha emitters) associated with two protoclusters at z=2.2&2.5 with MOIRCS/Subaru.
Shimakawa et al. (2014) have confirmed that the two protoclusters are the right ancestors of today’s largest clusters like ‘Coma’, and now we are studying the physical characteristics of the memberships in the respective protoclusters.
This talk focuses on one of our recent results regarding the environmental dependence of mass-metallicity relation seen in the protocluster, PKS1138-262 at z=2.2. The mass-metallicity relation provides crucial insights into star formation history, gaseous inflows and outflows.
As a result, we find a clear excess of the gaseous metallicities of the protocluster galaxies at the stellar mass of < 1E11 Msun. We suggest that it can be explained by the 'downsizing effect' or 'gas recycling' in the protocluster region.

Title
VERA observations of SiO masers in a Symbiotic star R Aquarii – Determination of orbital parameters
Abstract
Symbiotic stars are now generally understood as binary systems comprised of a cool late-type star and a hot compact companion. Interacting between the components presents an exciting laboratory for studying variety of astronomical processes.
R Aquarii (R Aqr) is one of the closest and most studied symbiotic star, but its fundamental values of orbital parameters are still under debated. These basic parameters would give implications for revealing the nature of the R Aqr system and binary evolution.
In order to determine the orbital parameters, we had been monitoring the R Aqr system of SiO masers with the VERA (VLBI Exploration of Radio Astrometry) which can allow us to conduct a precise astrometry of the maser sources. Also, we combined radial velocity data of references (e.g. Gromadzki & Mikolajewska 2009) and Mopra monitoring observations (Indemuehle+2013) with VERA astrometry.
Here, I will report the preliminary orbital parameters for the R Aqr system.

VERA observations of the low-luminosity AGN M84
Abstract
Most of the supermassive blackhole activity in the universe is primary in the lower end of luminosity function of active galactic nuclei(AGN). This type of AGN is called low-luminosity AGN(LLAGN), and its low luminosities and spectral energy distributions(SEDs) have been mainly modeled by (1) an advection-dominated accretion flow(ADAF), which is a radiatively inefficient, optically thin, and geometrically thick accretion flow at low accretion rates; and (2) a jet base. And we still don’t know the origin of radio emission of LLAGN. Our target M84, which is one of the nearby low-luminosity AGNs, has the 5th largest blackhole apparent radius. Our aim of this research is to examine the origin of radio emission model of M84.We will discuss if it is of jet of ADAF. To address this issue, we performed high resolution observations of M84 at 22 and 43 GHz quasi-simultaneously using VERA.We got the first VERA images of M84, and detected a jet like component at 22 GHz. The observed core spectra tend to show steep to flat spectral indices, suggesting that the radio core emission is dominated by its jet.
