Far infrared sources associated with the infrared dark cloud cores.
Abstract
Infrared dark clouds (IRDCs) are defined as regions of high extinction viewed against the mid-infrared Galactic background. Previous studies show their molecular material has low temperatures (<25 K), high column densities (10 ^ {23} - 10 ^ {25} cm ^ 2), and high volume densities (> 10 ^ 5 cm ^ 3). These properties are similar in size and mass to warm molecular clumps associated with the formation of high-mass stars and star clusters. This fact suggests that IRDCs may be the birthplaces of high-mass stars and star clusters. To investigate star formation activities in the IRDC cores, we carried out the identification of the AKARI-FIS Bright sources associated with the IRDC cores. It was found that the far-infrared sources associated with some IRDC cores. Half of them show the similar far-IR properties to the known maser sources. Toward these sources associated with the IRDC cores, the water maser survey observations were carried out with the VERA 20 m telescopes. From this survey, four H_2O maser sources were newly found.

Vibrationally excited H2O maser in Orion KL
Abstract
I will report on the first detection of the 232 GHz vibrationally excited H2O maser in Orion KL based on the ALMA Science Verification data. The 232 GHz maser is detected only at a position of the radio Source I, and its spectral profile shows a double-peaked structure, which is analogous to the 22 GHz H2O maser and the 43 GHz SiO masers associated with Source I. Our result suggests that the 232 GHz H2O maser would be excited by internal heating by an embedded protostar, being associated with either the root of the outflows/jets or the circumstellar disk around Source I.
In addition, I will briefly review some results from the ALMA SV data of Orion KL.

「Recent Results from ALMA Cycle 0 and Science Verification Observations」
Abstract
On 2011 September 30, ALMA Early Science Cycle 0 started. Although the current capabilities are limited to an antenna number of 16 (cf. 66 when completed) and a maximum baseline of 400m (cf. 18 km when completed), one order of magnitude higher sensitivity compared with existing mm/submm radio telescopes is leading to fruitful scientific results. Using the former half of the talk, we will summarize some highlights of researches on the formation and evolution of galaxies, formation of stars and planets, evolution of stars, and astrochemistry (in Japanese). In the latter half, Dr. Daniel Espada of NAOJ will explain his group’s research on the Antennae galaxy using science verification data. In particular he will discuss the properties of a newly discovered molecular tidal arm in NGC4039, as well as its star formation activity (in English).
