- Education and public outreach effort by Taipei Astronomical Museum and amateur activities and status in Taiwan
- Abstract
- There are various goals in education and outreach effort by Taipei Astronomical Museum (TAM):
I. Bridging the gap of astronomy education and research through astronomy camps and lectures
II. Promoting Taiwan-led projects and scientific achievement through website and exhibits.
III. Raising awareness of astronomy in Taiwan through participation in star parties and expositions on media.The Public Outreach effort at TAM includes: prints, promotional and educational activity, multimedia and collaboration with local astronomical societies and universities. Our publications include Taipei Starlight Quarterly, Sunspots Data Report, and Journal of Taipei Astronomical Museum (JTAM). For promotional and educational activity we have summer and winter camps for youngsters; spring and autumn camps for teachers and citizens.
Efforts have been there maintaining a museum website, dedicated to the latest astronomical discoveries. The portal provides a venue for the general public to discover the latest and most interesting findings in astronomy. Posted also including the latest news articles covering a large selection of interesting topics in contemporary astronomy.
We also collaborate with ASIAA website providing a video-on-demand function to allow users to watch astronomical talks and lectures recorded at TAM and universities. - 世話人の連絡先
