- 3-D numerical simulation of a growing planet with core formation
- Abstract

The formation of a metallic core is widely accepted as the biggest differentiation event during the final stage of the planetary formation [e.g. Stevenson, 1990]. Although the formation process of metallic core is still not clear, here we assume that it starts after the proto-planet has grown to about Mars-size required for impact events to induce melting, which is assumed to have lasted for around 10 Ma. The large impact events during the late accretion stage generate sufficiently strong shock waves to liquefy the part of planetary body and the impactor. As a result, molten regions such as magma ponds/oceans are formed. After solidification, the essential dynamics of the core formation are thought to involve global sinking of metallic materials over long (rock deformation) time-scales which is the subject of our simulation study.
In order to investigate the scenario described above, we developed the geodynamical simulation code to solve the Stokes flow with the free surface under the self-gravitating field in 3-D. Expressing the free - 連絡先

- Outflow Evolution in the Massive Star-forming Region W75N
- Abstract

One of the unsolved problems in astrophysics is how massive stars form.
In the early stage of stellar evolution, the maser phenomena are caused by the interaction of outflows or jets with interstellar medium. W75N is one of the representative massive star forming region and very bright H2O maser source at 22 GHz. Although they share the same environment in W75N, VLA1 and VLA2 have been detected with different H2O maser features in 1999 and 2005 VLBA observations: jet-like and wind-like outflows, respectively. In 2007 VERA observation, we found that the outflow of VLA2 has a transition from wind-like to jet like outflow. Such a transition has never been observed. Our result is consistent with a recent MHD simulation.
I will discuss the 2007 VERA result together with the previous 1999 and 2005 VLBA observations, and future plan to trace the transition. - 連絡先

- “The Subaru Coronagraphic Extreme-AO (SCExAO) system”
- Abstract
- Direct imaging of exoplanets is key to detailed characterization of their atmospheres. High contrast imaging systems are now being deployed on ground-based telescopes to perform this challenging task. Among those, the Subaru Coronagraphic Extreme-AO (SCExAO) system is uniquely taking advantage of new technologies, and should deliver higher contrast closer in to stars than other systems. Thanks to a strategic choice to establish SCExAO as both a prime scientific instrument and a testbed for rapidly deploying new technologies on sky, SCExAO is also a precursor to future ground-based and space-based systems.
I will describe SCExAO’s current and near future capabilities, and discuss scientific opportunities. I will also show how the techniques used on SCExAO will enable direct imaging and study of habitable exoplanets with future ground-based and space-based telescopes, such as the Thirty Meter Telescope project and the NASA-led space-based WFIRST-AFTA mission.

- 1977年の最初のVLBI実験が日本で行われて以来、今日までのVLBI観測研究の歩みをレビューします。講演者の経験した範囲ですが、最初は太平洋プレート運動の計測、ついでスペースVLBI計画、最後にVERAによる高精度位置天文観測について報告するとともに今後の展望について私見を述べさせていただきます。
