Title: Statistical study of the star formation efficiency in bars
Abstract: The dependence of the star formation efficiency (SFE) on galactic structures—especially whether the SFE in the bar region is lower than those in other regions—has recently been debated.
In this talk, we report the results of the statistical measurement of SFEs in nearby gas-rich massive star-forming barred galaxies.
We find that the ratio of the SFE in the bar to that in the disk was systematically lower than unity (typically 0.6–0.8), which means that the star formation
in the bar is systematically suppressed. Furthermore, we find a negative correlation between the SFE and the velocity width of the CO spectrum,
which is consistent with the idea that the large dynamical effects—such as strong shocks, large shears, and fast cloud–cloud collisions caused
by the noncircular motion of the bar—result in a low SFE. We also discuss how our findings differ from other recent statistical studies.

Title:Celebrating 15 years of Gamma-Ray Burst observations with Fermi
Abstract:
Gamma-Ray Bursts represent the most powerful explosions in the Universe.
Their emission, which covers the entire electromagnetic spectrum from
radio up to TeV energies, has been studied since the 1970s by many
ground and space-based observatories.
The Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope has been a major player in the field
of GRB studies during the last 15 years, providing unique insights into
their nature. With thousands of GRBs detected by the Gamma-ray Burst
Monitor (GBM) and hundreds by the Large Area Telescope (LAT), we have
learned the broad high-energy properties of the populations of these
events and obtained unique insights into their emission mechanisms and
physical characteristics.
In this talk, I will review the highlights of GRB science from low (keV)
to high (GeV) energies, as well as the most recent observations of very
high energy (TeV) emission, with particular emphasis on the GRB 221009A
event, revealed in October 2022, which holds the brightness record among
all GRBs observed by the Fermi telescope.

タイトル:Desert Stars: using transmedia strategy in astronomy communication.
Abstract:The Sahara desert occupies one third of the African continent and is one of the most inhospitable regions on the planet.
For centuries, Sahrawis lived under these extreme conditions in the desert. In October 2019,
the project Amanar: ‘Under the Same Sky’ travelled to the camps near Tindouf, Algeria, for two weeks to work with local students and teachers and
donate kits of educational materials. The aim was to empower and inspire the Sahrawi refugee community through astronomy and promote peace.
In addition to educational activities, the project interviewed four star experts to collect and record the oral tradition of the ancestral astronomical
knowledge of the Sahrawi people. We used this recorded material to create our transmedia narrative. This presentation describes the creation process of Desert Stars,
a transmedia narrative composed of six different products: Desert Stars VR (virtual reality documentary), Desert Stars 360º (360º documentary),
Searching for Stars is (interactive docugame), A Refuge in the Stars (Feature-length film), GalileoCast (podcast series) and Irifi (art gallery installation).
Each piece explores a complementary approach and user experience based on the specific media and platform, reaching a varied audience, regardless of their level of access to technology.
Thus, using Desert Stars as an example, this presentation seeks to enlighten the potential of the transmedia strategy and virtual reality in astronomy communication.
Before the presentation, the Desert Stars VR experience will be available for the audience “on-site” to see.

Date and Time:
30 June (Fri),12:00~13:00
The movie premiere: “A Refuge in the Stars”
30 June (Fri),13:30~14:30 Tea Talk (including the Desert Stars VR experience)
