- Disk Accretion in Ionizing High-Mass Stars
- Abstract
- We present 52 au spatial resolution observations of the O-type high-mass young stellar object (HMYSO) G345.49+1.47 (d~2.4 kpc, Lbol~1.5E5 L☉) made using the Atacama Large Millimeter/ submillimeter Array in Band 6. We detect circumstellar emission from the H38β hydrogen recombination line showing a compact photoionized disk rotating perpendicularly to the previously detected fast radio jet. This detection presents direct observational evidence that disks can effectively survive the photoionization feedback from young high-mass stars, allowing accretion to proceed past the main-sequence contraction phase. We discuss and model some of the physical parameters of the G345.49+1.47 disk, and propose possible scenarios for the HMYSO past and future evolution, as well as its implications to high-mass star formation.
