Chirality and Astrophysics

Abstract

Elementary particles, such as electrons and neutrinos, possess the property of chirality. This microscopic property modifies the macroscopic hydrodynamic behavior and leads to unusual chiral transport phenomena in relativistic systems. We argue that these chiral effects are potentially important for the origin of magnetars and core-collapse supernova explosions.

INFRARED AND RADIO OBSERVATIONS OF A SMALL GROUP OF PROTOSTELLAR OBJECTS IN THE MOLECULAR CORE, L1251-C

Abstract

A multi-wavelength observational study of a low-mass star-forming region, L1251-C, has been done (Kim et al. 2015). At the center of the region, there is an infrared source, IRAS 22343+7501, which is driving an outflow. It is confirmed that IRAS 22343+7501 is a small group of protostellar objects by Spitzer Space Telescope observations. The extended dust-continuum emission with its intensity peak at the center of L1251A has been detected at 350 and 850 μm, tracing dense envelope material around L1251A. The intensity peaks of several molecular emission lines detected with single-dish observations are inconsistent with those of continuum emission, suggesting complex molecular environments around L1251A. The intensity peaks of CO 2-1 and 13CO 2?1 obtained with the Submillimeter Array, however, located at the position of IRS 1, which is both the brightest source in the infrared image and the weakest source in the 1.3 mm dust-continuum map. IRS 1 is the strongest candidate for the driving source of the newly detected compact CO 2-1 outflow. Over the whole region of L1251-C, 3 Class I and 16 Class II sources have been identified, including 3 young stellar objects
(YSOs) in L1251A. A comparison between the average of projected distances among YSOs in L1251-C and that among YSOs in L1251A, suggests that L1251-C is an example of low-mass cluster formation where protostellar objects form in a small group.
In this talk, I will also present briefly the results from a study on star formation in one Planck cold clump, PGCC G108.84-00.81. On top of that, I will give a presentation about the future study on high-mass star formation with observational data of a KaVA large program “Understanding high-mass star formation through KaVA observations of water and methanol masers”.

月の水

Abstract

月は、以前、全く無水の天体であると考えられていた。ところが、近年の月面リモートセンシング観測と月試料分析の進展により、この従来の月のとらえ方が急速に変わりつつある。月極域表土中には水分が、月岩石中には鉱物に取り込まれた水が検出されている。月の水、地球の水、隕石の水、彗星の水、などの間の関係が近年熱く議論されている。講演では、月の水研究に関する近年の進展を概観し、月の水の起源解明に向けた私の取り組みを紹介する。
