Direct Measurement of Coating Thermal Noise Using Cryogenic Optical Cavities
[Abstract]
The optical coatings used in gravitational-wave detectors constitute the dominant source of thermal noise. This noise is called coating thermal noise. Coating thermal noise is one of the most important noise sources in gravitational-wave detectors at most sensitive frequency range. To reduce this noise, direct measurement is indispensable. So far, I have performed simulations and developed optical systems for direct measurement. I will report the current status.

Growth of Typical Supermassive Black Holes at z~6
[Abstract]
In this colloquium, I will describe recent observational and theoretical researchers on the early growth of supermassive black holes at high redshift. Then, I will show our recent works on the search of low-luminosity quasars at z>6 with the Subaru telescope and some preliminary results on their mass measurements with NIR spectroscopic follow-up observations.
