Assistant Professor OHSAWA, Ryou

Research Field

  • Optical and Infrared Astronomy, Physics of Interstellar Medium, Planetary Science

Degree

  • Doctor of Science (Graduate School of Science, The University of Tokyo)

Summary of Research

  • Measuring the distance to celestial objects is essential in observational astronomy. JASMINE is an infrared astrometry satellite that measures the distances to stars in the galactic center region, heavily obscured by dust, through observations in the infrared. I am in charge of developing algorithms and software to analyze astrometry data. Besides the JASMINE project, I have investigated the formation and evolution of circumstellar dust and have been involved in observations of small solar system bodies.
