Summary of Research
I conduct research in high-energy plasma physics—such as particle acceleration and plasma heating caused by magnetic reconnection—primarily through solar X-ray observations, including scientific data analysis, development of observational instruments, and space-borne experiments. To date, I have led the US-Japan joint sounding rocket experiments FOXSI-3 (launched in 2018) and FOXSI-4 (launched in 2024) as a Japan-side PI, achieving the world’s first solar X-ray focusing imaging spectroscopy of solar corona and solar flare. Looking ahead, by taking advantage of flight opportunities at various scales—including sounding rocket experiment (FOXSI-5, scheduled for launch in 2026), ultra-small satellite (CubeSat under consideration), and full-size satellite (also under consideration)—I plan to realize and carry out state-of-the-art solar X-ray observations of solar flares speedily and ceaselessly.
